Northeast Asia

Overview:

Northeast Asia (NEA) is usually described as consisting of six nations: the People's Republic of China (China or PRC), Japan, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), the Russian Federation (Russia) and the Republic of China (Taiwan). All of these nations except Russia are considered part of the 'East-Asian cultural sphere', in which there are ample shared cultural attributes and linguistic similarities between nations. NEA has a rich and storied history that dates back millennia, with the Huang He and Yangtze river valleys of China playing important roles in fostering early civilization.
